The Known and the Unknown

The Known and the Unknown

The exhibition took place in Hiki outside Tokyo.

It was for several years a recurrent event.

I participated in 2003.

The title of my art work:

The known and the unknown

I collected berries, lichen, leaves from bushes and slag stone from Sweden. In Japan I tried to find and collect corresponding Japanese  natural materials. I placed everything in circles.

I made drawings on transparencies of the places where I had found the material, and put mirrors under so they would catch the light and glimmer among the plants.

Feeling deeply rooted to the place where you come from, but still trying to be open to the unknown.

That was the thought.

I had good help from two friends and colleagues, Eva Källander and Anita Danielsson Almén, with the idea of making ”opposite”  or corresponding circles from the moss we dug out, as well as with the strenuous digging.
